My reflection on the writing classes this semester

This semester we had not very many writing lectures. Although there were less time to do some exercises during the class, but we had a lot of exercises to do at home. O course, there were some pluses and some minuses as well.

First of all, there were no writing during lectures, so at home students could use everything they can to write a text. I think writing without any dictionaries or something else would be much more useful for our future.

Secondly, there were no corrections during lectures. I think we all are doing lots of mistakes so it would be very useful to show us our own mistakes, not only mistakes made by others. Of course, correcting other texts is useful for our future work, but in the beginning we should learn how to write our texts correctly.

In other hand writing lectures were very interesting, because the themes of our exercises were about some things which are urgent, popular for us and every nowadays person. Also, I liked those themes because I could write more about some of the themes, they were interesting, I could know some more information about one or other thing.

In the end I would like to say, that I liked writing lectures and I would like to have something like that during next year. And I hope that our hopeless writing will improve even more than it had improved these years.

Did my expectations which I had at the beginning of my studies at this university come true?

When these school years began, I thought that studying at Lithuania's University of Educational Science will be very hard and difficult, because everything was new, unknown. But when these years ends, I think that they were very interesting, I knew a lot of new things, not only about grammar, but also about education itself.

First of all, I thought, that during this year we will be studying only English, only grammar, phonetics, and etc. But now I know that this speciality that I had chosen is much more than I had expected. I understood that a real teacher must be born for this work, because there is not much things that can be learnt during studies, much more thing can be just improved, not learnt.

Secondly, it seemed, that studying in university is much harder than it really is. Of course, you have to work, if you want to have good marks, but there is also quite a lot of time for your personal education, some free time activities. You just have to be able to coordinate your activities.

In addition, I would like to say, that English philology was not my top choice. I started learning it because it seemed like a good work for my future, but I did not like this subject. I could not even imagine, that I will start not only liking it, but loving it in every possible way.

To sum up, I can say, that I am really surprised how different my studies were from those, that I was imagining. They were much more interesting and much wider that it seemed in the beginning. I know, that it can be very hard in the future, but I think I will handle it.

Film review. The lovely bones

Recently, I saw a film about a girl, who was killed by her neighbour, which was called "The lovely bones". I found this film very interesting and quite cruel, but I recommended it to everyone I know. This film is not quite a detective, although there is some kind of investigation what had happened to the main character Suzy. The film starts with the death of the girl and goes on after it. During the whole action and investigation of murder in Earth, Suzy watches everyone from the place between Heaven and Earth. She is angree and her only thought is to revenge her killer. But she doesn't understand, that she can't go to Heaven till she forgives him. She is so upset that everyone who still lives can feel her feelings. In the end of the film she finally understands, that anger is bad thing. Her father could have been killed because of it but he stays alive because of Suzy's change. The only feeling that have left for her is sadness and wistfulness. She is in love with a boy and her only wish is to kiss him, which finally comes true. When she is able to go to Heaven she understands, that anger had just imprisoned her, the forgiveness saved her, the love showed her the way to become free. This film is amasing, shocking and sorrowfull. Everyone who saw this film were crying. I advice you to see it, because it will enriche your emotions and understanding of whole world.

I read an article on art. That article was about few artists (painters) who decided to create new branch of arts, but everything ended in worldwide indignation, because of their "piece of art". They put the crucified Jesus into a glass box, urinated on top of it, and took a picture of it, and called it "Urine Christ". It is no doubt that all Catholics, Christians were disgusted. It was called "the biggest insult ever". In my opinion nowadays art is sometimes quite strange and even perverted. If such a pieces of art are created now, so who knows what disgusting art we will have in the future.

Being a Diplomat. Advantages and Disadvantages

A diplomat is a person appointed by a state to conduct diplomacy with another state or international organisation. The main functions of diplomats revolve around the representation and protection of the interests and nationals of the sending state, as well as the promotion of information and friendly relations. Diplomats are the oldest form of any of the foreign policy institutions of the state, predating by centuries foreign ministers and ministerial offices. This speciality looks very difficult, but being a diplomat has both – advantages and disadvantages, but, mostly, the choice of becoming one of them depends of man itself.

On one hand, being a diplomat has many advantages. First of all, diplomats has lots of opportunities to travel, to see the world, exotic places, also, possibility to live in many different countries. Secondly, diplomats have to be communicative and it is very useful and interesting to meet lots of people, not only during holidays, but at work, as well. Thirdly, one of most important privileges is opportunity to influence the image of the country he is representing. Fourth of all, they can find lots of friends from all over the world and know their cultures and traditions, which is very interesting. Lastly, sometimes the diplomatic integrity is also very important, so diplomats can express their ideas more freely.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages, as well. Firstly, diplomats have to travel a lot, and it is not always very good thing, because nobody cares if you have to fly somewhere on your child’s birthday. Also, when you are a diplomat, you have to move from one country to another often, and you have to leave all your friends and start a completely new life somewhere else. Secondly, diplomats have to associate with many criminals, who do not want to get caught, especially in foreign country. Lastly, it is a huge responsibility to represent your country and one your mistake can cause lots of problems.

So, being a diplomat is very serious responsibility, but also it is very good opportunity to communicate, to travel and to meet lots of people. It is very important to show a good example and not to corrupt the image of your country. But in the end, I would like to notice, that it is not important how many advantages or  disadvantages there are, the only thing that matters is the person’s, who wish to be a diplomat, attitude towards this speciality.
